2007 'Tour de Moto'   March 17th. / 18th.

One of the world's great slot car races!

The race will be held on our 6 lane, non-magnet, 155' road course, (see above left) which features driver-operated working pits (allowing all cars to pit simultaneously) full scenery and lighting, and smooth multi-radiussed curves.

RULES & CAR SPECS: This is a 24 hour race for sedans or coupes which are based on a production road car with at least four seats. No sports cars. No convertibles.

Any inline motor may be used, including re-powering a car with non-stock motor.
No sidewinders.  No anglewinders.  (because they never bust a gear)

When re-powering a car, motor position may not be moved more than 1/2 inch from stock.

Four wheel drive is allowed, even okay to convert a car to 4 x 4.

Fly Racing Alfas must have 3 grams lead above the motor, to make up for the Lexan interior that is stock issue in these cars.

Cars may be fitted with suspension, but with only the minimum of modifications to the chassis.

Neither car body nor frame can be replaced during the race, and if damaged must be repaired.

Cars will need lights, as we will be using the real outside light to give us a realistic day/nightime.

Normal 1/16 inch rules apply:  ground clearance, tires outside of body etc.

Tire Width: Tires cannot be wider than .430 inch (this allows Indy Grips # 2082, PPR 1410, PPR 1408, PPR 1008 on BWA rims, and smaller sizes, but no F1 tires or hubs are allowed, even if they have been trimmed)

Body modifications:  Only allowable mods are to open up the wheel arch to fit taller tires, or minimum mods to fit a non-standard motor.  No body lightening is allowed,  except that co-driver on rally cars and spare wheel may be removed.

Body and chassis must match (no Fly body on a Ninco car etc) and only hard body slotcars are allowed, (hard plastic or resin, but no Lexan ) no scratch-built kit cars.

This year, each team will only drive once on every lane, making the routine lane changes every four hours.  The official clock stops during these lane changes, making exactly 24 hours of racing.  Starting lane assignments are by draw, and subsequent changes are worked out in advance, but are not known to the drivers until moments before the next heat.

All pit work is under green, so even if your car is dead when racing stops for a routine lane change, it must be handed in with all the others.

Cars can only be fixed while in the pits (after driving into pit row, car can be removed and the tires cleaned, or taken away to the bench for further repairs/maint.)   A crashed car may be adjusted  prior to being replaced on the track.  Such adjustments must be without tools of any kind: i.e.  grooming the braids with fingers, popping axle bushing back in place,  but not cleaning the tires with a roller or other sticky device.

Towing Penalty: In the event that a crashed car cannot make it back to the pits under its own steam, a randomly timed towing penalty will be assessed: Official clock must reach the next 5 minute mark before car can be worked on at the bench, so a car needing to be towed at 9.16 will have to wait 4 minutes, but at 9.19 will only have to wait one minute.

Pitiquette:  Excercise caution when entering or exiting the pits, as a penalty will be assessed on cars that cause a wreck by cutting off another car.  However, if the pitting car stalls out crossing the lanes, there is no penalty provided the stalled driver calls "Track!" immediately. Crashing in the pits due to excessive speed is likely also to draw a flag, especially for repeated violations.  All penalties are at the discretion of the Race Marshall, who has considerable leeway is all such matters.  Penalties will be assessed as Pit stop & go: Car cannot be touched when executing the pitstop penalty, but must come to a complete stop and wait for the Race Marshall to say go.

The annoying factor of Scale Realities:  (Ray strikes again. . .)   If your front wheel falls off, you cannot continue until the car is repaired, even if it is driving fine.   Similarly, if your driver leaps from the car, or is observed to be upside down or rolling around in the back seat, he must be recovered, restrained or replaced by a braver soul before you can continue.

Tech inspection will be Friday 16th. March from 8 - 10pm.  Cars must be handed in after passing tech, and will not be touched by the team until their first pit stop.

During the race, only one team member can be at the driver's station at a time, to avoid congestion and annoyance to other drivers.  A single team member can visit very briefly, to suggest a driver change etc.

Minimum 2 drivers per team, no maximum number of drivers.   Entry fee $100 per team.

PRIZES:  Ist $300   2nd  $200  3rd  $100   (awarded in ML storebucks)
